We're back at the airport at 9 AM to check in for our flight to Heathrow. This is fairly uneventful and actually on time, how about that. After a trip to refuel ourselves in the lounge our Manchester flight is delayed half an hour, just to add insult to injury. When we get back we're now at the wrong terminal so have to walk round the airport to find the car. The woman at the meet and greet tells us we're 33 hours late, luckily she is sympathetic to our plight and we don't get charged more.
Finally we manage to get into the car and drive home, arriving home about 6 PM, about 51 hours after we arrived at Miami airport.
The cats are pleased to see us anyway.
Until next time, adios!

The Journey Home - Day 2
So our flight to Madrid overnight was fairly uneventful, though expectations that the pilot would make up the lost time proved to be optimistic. We arrived 30 minutes late with a connection time of just 50 minutes, us and about 35 other people also trying to connect to Manchester.
On leaving the flight we found we were in a different terminal, which necessitated a passport check, a train, a security check, another passport check and lots of running. We were now at the time the flight was due to leave, but with so many connecting passengers we hoped they would hold the flight. But no, there it is taxi-ing away when we get to the gate.
So we join the queue to find yet another route home. They can't get us back to Manchester today! Are you kidding, it's 9 AM in the morning and we're only 2 hours fly time away. So tomorrow morning they can get us back, via Heathrow!
We were chatting to some other families who were in the same boat, one a Wolves fan and an Evertonian so it's a good job we had drawn 2-2 in our first game back in the Premier League earlier that day.
We were sent to a lovely hotel with a pool. It was warm and sunny so we made the most of our little holiday extension with some swimming and beer.

The Journey Home - Day 1
The ship made most of the time up so we were only 2 hours late back to Miami. We made sure we got off promptly and were at the airport by 10 AM, over 2 hours before our first flight to New York JFK at 12:15. We were told that the flight was delayed 105 minutes but we had a 4 hour lay over in JFK so we were not too worried (how wrong we were) and headed to the lounge for some coffee and cakes.
Then the next text arrived saying it would be another 45 minutes, then another 30 minutes, then another. We were now getting concerned and headed to the gate where the Delta guy told us there was severe weather in the North East and the inward flight hadn't left yet. He recommended we ring the Delta reservations line and they managed to find us a new way home, via Madrid!
We caught the Madrid flight, it was due at 5 PM but was about 30 minutes late, which didn't worry us too much at the time....

Day 7 - Day at Sea
Our final day was spent on the ship, in the arcade, playing mini-golf and bingo! We have had a great time but are looking forwards to getting home now.
Day 6 - Amber Cove, Dominican Republic
Amber Cove is a new resort custom built on the Dominican Republic for Carnival ships. We got off early and bagged nice seats and an umbrella by the pool.
After leaving to head back to Miami we had to turn back to Amber Cove because of a medical emergency on board. We finally left again at midnight and had to put our foot down to get back to Miami in time!

Day 5 - St Thomas
We caught a taxi to the other side of this US Virgin Island, though driving on the left as they abandoned a plan to switch sides after one day. We went to Magans Bay which is a beautiful beach on the other side of the island and spent some time swimming and sunning.

Day 4 - San Juan evening
When it had cooled down a little we ventured off the ship into San Juan, apparently the oldest town in US territory and with a very Spanish Colonial feel to it with beautiful coloured buildings and old fortresses.
