The ship made most of the time up so we were only 2 hours late back to Miami. We made sure we got off promptly and were at the airport by 10 AM, over 2 hours before our first flight to New York JFK at 12:15. We were told that the flight was delayed 105 minutes but we had a 4 hour lay over in JFK so we were not too worried (how wrong we were) and headed to the lounge for some coffee and cakes.
Then the next text arrived saying it would be another 45 minutes, then another 30 minutes, then another. We were now getting concerned and headed to the gate where the Delta guy told us there was severe weather in the North East and the inward flight hadn't left yet. He recommended we ring the Delta reservations line and they managed to find us a new way home, via Madrid!
We caught the Madrid flight, it was due at 5 PM but was about 30 minutes late, which didn't worry us too much at the time....
